Golden Knights head to Semi's after picking up several major awards

The Clarkson Golden Knights came out of the Statler Hotel in Ithaca with a lot more than they came in with.  The ECAC Awards Banquet featured 3 Knights being named to the ECAC First Team and Haley Winn recognized with an historic designation.

Anne Cherkowski, Nicole Gosling, and Haley Winn were named as ECAC First Team All Stars.  Cherkowski  was tied for the league lead in conference points and 6th overall in total points.  Gosling was the 2nd leading defender in points in the ECAC.  This is the 2nd straight year that Nicole was named to the 1st team All ECAC.  Winn had a season that moved her up from a 2nd team All ECAC last year to a First Team All ECAC and more.  Winn was honored as the ECAC Defender of the Year.  This is the 2nd straight year a Golden Knight has won that honor, Nicole Gosling was last years winner. Winn becomes the 6th Knight to take home the Defender of the Year Honors.

Haley had little time to enjoy this award when she was summoned to the podium to become the first defender to be named the ECAC Player of the Year.  This is the 5th time a Golden Knight has been selected with this honor. Winn has also been named a top 10 Patty Kaz Finalist and to top off the week, she was named to Team USA for the 2025 World Championships. Winn led the Knights in scoring, shots taken & blocked and was the top scoring D in the league.  She contributed a point in 29 of 36 games this season.

Today the Knights will face no easy task in the ECAC Semi-Finals when they take on the #1 seed, Cornell Big Red at 3:00 pm.  The Big Red will feature several award winners of there own, Goalie of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.  Clarkson lost both regular season games this season (0-3 & 1-2).  The most recent game the Knights out shot the Big Red at Lynah Rink.  Since that loss, Clarkson has gone 5-1-1 and comes in only giving up 1.125 goals per game since that game.

Today's game can be streamed on ESPN+.  The winner of today's semi final will face the winner of the other semi-final (Colgate v SLU) on Saturday at 3:00 pm at Lynah Rink.
