Ithaca, NY – Two goals separated by only 82 seconds proved the difference as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat against Ithaca College in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 8-4-1 overall and 1-3-0 in conference games, while Ithaca jumped to 7-4-1 and 2-2-0 in league contests. Clarkson plays its final home games of the regular season next weekend when the team hosts Bard College and Vassar College.

Clarkson was outshot 10-6 in the game, but the two teams were even in shots on goal at 5-5 and the Knights enjoyed a 6-2 lead in corner kick chances. However, Ithaca got all of the offense it would need midway through the first half.

Kelsey Espenhorst broke the scoreless tie at the 25:49 mark on a pass from McKensie Galusha to put the Bombers up 1-0. Sara Jakobsze denied Danielle Martin's shot barely 30 seconds after the following kick off, but Ithaca quickly countered and was in the Clarkson defensive end shortly thereafter. Alex Epifani sent a cross to Gabriella Mihale where she converted in front for her fourth goal of the year.

Clarkson put shots on the Ithaca frame in the 57th and 68th minutes and also had opportunities with corner kicks midway through the second half, but came up empty in those chances. Camryn Careccia and Giulia Mahoney also placed shots between the posts late in the half, but both of those were stopped by Jakobsze.
