The Golden Knights will open their home portion of ECAC play when they welcome in the Union Garnet Chargers and new Head Coach (and former Clarkson Assistant) Tony Maci.  Maci has Union off to their best start in years with a 3-1 ECAC mark, with wins over Cornell, Dartmouth, and Harvard. They also split with Robert Morris, a team that Clarkson swept at home last month. Â
Â
Maci spent the last eight years with the Golden Knights, serving as the top assistant on
Matt Desrosiers' staff before recently earning a promotion to Associate Head Coach. During his time on the bench, the Golden Knights won a pair of Division I national championships in 2017 and 2018, reaching four Frozen Fours and making the NCAA Tournament seven times. As the team's recruiting coordinator and skills coach, Maci has recruited and developed two Patty Kazmaier Award winners, nine AHCA All-Americans and 38 All-ECAC Hockey honorees during his time in Potsdam.
Â
The Knights come into the weekend without the services of All American Defender,
Haley Winn, who was part of a 7-2 USA win on Wednesday vs Canada in the US Canada Rivalry Series. Last weekend the Knights split on the road, losing to Quinnipiac 3-0 with two empty net goals against and then busting out for a 6-3 win at Princeton. Â
Â
Tonight will be the first game behind the bench for new assistant coach Kris Hogg, he joined the team this week and has been on the ice for practice since Tuesday. Â
Â
The Knights are 19-0 vs Union at Cheel all time and 39-1 in the overall series. Â
Â
Tonight's game can be streamed on ESPN+. Reminder to fans that tomorrow's hockey double header will be the Clarkson Hockey Fights Cancer Game.
