Knights Pick Up First Conference Win, 54-47 Over Bard

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – Addie Kea matched her season-best with 15 points to help lift the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team to a 54-47 win over Bard College in Liberty League action Friday evening.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-8 on the season and 1-3 in the Liberty League, while Bard fell to 4-6 and 0-4. Clarkson takes on Vassar College on Saturday afternoon.

The Green and Gold opened the game with an 8-0 run, but Bard responded with eight straight points to tie the game in the first. With the Knights up just two late in the first quarter, Cassidy Dumont reentered the game and hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key as time ran out to put Clarkson ahead 16-11.

In the second, Bard picked up the lead on a 3-pointer from Aislynn Dixon at the 7-minute mark, but Clarkson quickly responded and regained the lead thanks to some layups by Cassidy Dumont.

In the middle of the third quarter, Bard went on an 8-0 run to take a five-point lead as Lexi Miller scored six straight points for the Raptors. However, Clarkson recovered with a 14-2 run that stretched from the end of the third to the start of the fourth. Raelynn Burns hit a jumper at 8:01 to cap that streak and the Knights expanded their lead to eight on a jumper-and-one from Elizabeth Aiossa at 6:03 (49-41). Bard scored the next six to get back within two, but Clarkson's defense clamped down the rest of the way, keeping the Raptors scoreless for the final four-plus minutes, making enough free throws to clinch the win.

Although Clarkson was outrebounded 57-32 in the game, including 25 offensive rebounds for Bard, the Golden Knights limited their mistakes with only six turnovers, while the Raptors had 25 turnovers.

Addie Kea led all scorers with 15 points while also adding in three assists and Cassidy Dumont chipped in 12 points. Elizabeth Aiossa also scored seven points while snagging seven rebounds.

Lexi Miller had a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds for Bard. Multiple players nearly had double-doubles for the Raptors. Ella Perreault had nine points and 11 rebounds, Shirley Dong produced nine points and eight boards, and Aislynn Dixon tossed in eight to go along with eight rebounds.
