Knights Close Out 2022-23 With Loss at Skidmore, 78-47

Saratoga Springs, NY – Shooting 16-for-26 from the floor in the second half, Skidmore College would not allow the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team to mount any kind of comeback, as the Golden Knights saw their season conclude with a 78-47 defeat on the road.

The Golden Knights finished off their season with a record of 8-15 overall and 5-13 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore gained the second seed in the Liberty League Tournament at 20-5 and 16-2.

Skidmore shot less than 50% from the floor in only one quarter of Saturday's contest, building an early lead and not providing Clarkson with an opportunity to make a run. The Knights trailed by one after a Veronica Tache 3-pointer at 6:26, but Skidmore scored eight unanswered points in the next 90 seconds, capped off by a layup-and-one from Julia Blanck at the 5:00 mark. The margin expanded to double digits on an Emmy Plage 3-pointer with just under two minutes to go in the first quarter. At the start of the second, Clarkson was back within six when Bella Doyle made a layup at 6:44, only to see Skidmore go on a 13-2 run over the next six minutes. Skidmore ended the half with a 15-point advantage.

While Clarkson would score the opening basket of the second half, Skidmore's offense proved too much, as the Thoroughbreds shot 8-for16 in the third quarter and 8-for-10 in the fourth. Hurting the Knights' chances further were the 16 offensive rebounds for Skidmore, which led to 17 second-chance points.

Cassidy Dumont finished with a game-high 19 points, going 6-for-14 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the line. Elaina Porter added in 10 points for the Knights.

For Skidmore, Kate McCarney scored 11 points while also adding in five rebounds and five assists. Cassie Davidson notched 10 points and three blocked shots.
