Clarkson would open the scoring at 9:41 when
Dustyn McFaul would get the puck on the half wall and fire a wrist shot that found its way into the back of the net thru traffic.
Ayrton Martino would get credit for the assist.
Michigan Tech would answer back at 4:30 of the 2nd period, when Lachlan Getz would tie the game up at 1-1.
Clarkson would regain the lead at 16:59 when
Mathieu Gosselin was able to feed
Ayrton Martino for a break away and Martino was able to slip the puck between the MTU goaltenders legs to put the Knights back up by 1.
The Knights withstood a near 2-minute shift where the Huskies were able to keep the Knights trapped in their own zone but Croteau was able to get a whistle and a faceoff.
At 5:09,
Ayrton Martino was awarded a penalty shot after he was hooked down on a breakaway, his shot would beat Huskies goalie, but miss wide.
The Knights would use their time out after an icing at 3:09 to get fresh legs on the ice and settle the team heading into the final push. Michigan Tech would win a faceoff with 1:44 left but the draw split the defense, allowing
Erik Bargholtz to break into open ice, as he got the MTU net he dished the puck off to
Trey Taylor who buried it into the open net to ice the game for the Knights.
Clarkson would not score on the power play and held the Huskies to 0 for 2 with the advantage.
