The Clarkson Women's Hockey team enjoyed a weekend off and now heads back out on the road to visit the 3-3 Robert Morris Colonials. Clarkson is 5-0-1 on the season and ranked 7th in the latest NCAA/USCHO National Poll.
Clarkson is getting balanced point production, with 17 Knights getting on the score sheet this season. Defenders are 3 of the top 6 point producers (Gossling, Guay, & Winn) and account for 6 of the teams 21 goals.
On the national stage, Clarkson is:
• 6th in the country for Goals scored (21)
• 6th nationally in assists (35)
• 6th for team points (56)
• 5th in goal against average (.986)
• 2nd in the nation for team shutouts (3)
The top line of B. McQuigge, Petrie, and Cherkowski account for 30% of the team points, but what has lead to the teams 5-0-1 start has also been th fact that the Knights are getting scoring down the line up. In addition, the defense are contributing to the point production without a drop in defensive efficiency, evidenced by the fact they have kept every team below 20 shots or below this season and have help contribute to the 5th best goals against average in the nation.
Line up depth has also extended into the crease,
Julia Minotti was thrust into action on Saturday at UVM when
Michelle Pasiechnyk was ejected for head contact. Minotti made 12 saves only allowing 1 goal and kept the Knights in position to gain the tie and stay unbeaten. Both Goalies can boast a shut out in the young season as well.
