Hodge Finds Teammates Twice in Knights' 2-1 Win Over SLU

Potsdam, NY – Chloe Hodge assisted on both goals for the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team as the Golden Knights picked up a 2-1 win over St. Lawrence on Tuesday evening at Hantz Field.

The Golden Knights moved to 9-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 while the Saints fell to 6-6-2 and 2-5-1. With the win, Clarkson clinched a spot in the Liberty League Tournament, the team's first playoff appearance since 2017. The Green and Gold will look to possibly secure a first-round home game when they close out the season against Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams scored early in the first half, with the Knights finding the back of the net first. Chloe Hodge took a corner from the right side and sent the ball into the middle of the box. After the ball was initially deflected, Emily Colby collected the pass and was able to slip one past Keely Snode at the 7:35 mark. However, the visitors trailed for less than five minutes as the Saints were able to tie the game up in the 13th minute. Meredith Donahue picked up possession deep in the Clarkson defensive end and sent in a long cross, finding the head of Emma Reynolds, and from roughly 15 yards out that header snuck into the near post to put the score at 1-1.

Clarkson and St. Lawrence were knotted at 5-5 in shots, though the Knights were up 4-1 in shots on goal. Each team also had a pair of corner kick chances.

The Knights enjoyed multiple chances on the St. Lawrence frame in the second half, with several near misses, but the team finally was able to secure the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute. Chloe Hodge sent in a cross off a corner kick and found the head of Emily Davis, with the ball bouncing in the far side of the net. St. Lawrence had a handful of chances after Clarkson's goal, but none of them resulted in shots as Molly DiCaprio came out to disrupt the Saints' offensive flow.

Clarkson won the battle of shots (13-2) and shots on goal (7-2). DiCaprio stopped one shot for Clarkson and Keely Snode made five stops. Clarkson also had six corner kicks to St. Lawrence's two.
