Just three days after opening the season at Falcon Park, the Clarkson University Baseball team will return to Auburn, NY to once again take on St. John Fisher College, this time in a single nine-inning contest.

The Series: The Cardinals swept the Tuesday doubleheader, winning the first contest 8-6 and then claiming the nightcap 12-0.

Key Stats for Clarkson (0-2): The Golden Knights got off to a strong start by scoring in their first at bat of 2021 and then tacking on five more runs in the opener, but Clarkson was shutout in the second contest. The limited repetitions showed due to Clarkson's shutdown in February, as the Golden Knights struck out 30 times against three walks in the doubleheader. Sophomore Kent Wilson delivered a sixth-inning homer in game one, hitting the long ball in his 14th career plate appearance. Graduate student Joe Stockman saw his first action on the mound for Clarkson, pitching a scoreless ninth inning and recording a strikeout. Freshman Joseph Godomsky was also particularly strong, striking out six in three innings of relief.

Key Stats for St. John Fisher (2-0): The Cardinals had several big bats for Clarkson to avoid in the first meeting, but it was some unexpected sources that contributed a large portion of the offense on Tuesday. Luke Duffy was 5-for-8 with three doubles, Adam Zebrowski went 4-for-7 with three runs scored, and Joe Ruggiero reached base in seven of his 11 plate appearances, accounting for five runs with three scored and two more driven in. The Cardinals sent their top two pitchers to the hill on Tuesday as RJ Kuruts and Anthony Brophy combined for 10 innings, with Kuruts whiffing 13 hitters in a six frames.
