Knights Cruise to 75-20 Win Over Bard

Potsdam, NY – Freshman Elaina Porter scored 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting and snagged six rebounds to help the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team gain a 75-20 Liberty League victory over Bard College Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 7-11 overall and 3-9 in the Liberty League, while Bard dropped to 5-14 and 0-12. Clarkson hits the road next weekend with games against RIT and William Smith.

Without conference leading scorer Christina Kiser, Bard struggled from the floor, shooting just 9-for-52 overall, while the Knights shot 50.0% from the field (31-for-62).

Scoring was slow in the first quarter as both teams made just a single basket in the first six minutes. Hannah Earl hit a 3-pointer at the 4:01 mark to get things going, as Clarkson produced 14 points in the final four minutes, including a last second shot from Claire Flannery to end the quarter. That momentum carried over to the second quarter for the Knights, with the Green and Gold pouring in 26 points on 11-for-19 shooting in the second 10-minute shift. Bard was slowed by six turnovers and a 5-for-26 effort from the floor in comparison.

Hannah Earl tossed in 12 points in the half, adding in four assists. Elaina Porter scored eight points for the Knights and Maddie Pratt grabbed eight boards, including three on the offensive end. Katie Esposito accounted for six of Bard's 10 first-half points.

The second half was more of the same, though the Knights started off slow as Bard knocked in the first five points of the period. Clarkson went on an 11-2 run to end the third quarter and then outscored the Raptors 22-3 in the final session, shooting 9-for-16 from the field.

Earl finished with 17 points and six assists, shooting 7-for-13 from the field. Porter tossed in her 14, while Emma Buonanno, Claire Flannery and Maddie Pratt each added eight points. Pratt also had 13 rebounds. Rachel Marion grabbed 11 boards and also contributed five steals.
