Coming off just its second win ever against Skidmore, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team heads back to non-league play this weekend when the team faces SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon.

Live Stats

The Series: The Golden Knights have only played four games against the Red Dragons, facing each other for the first time back in 2011. Clarkson is 2-1-1 against Cortland, having surrendered a single goal to the Red Dragons. In the only matchup away from Hantz Turf Field in 2017, the Knights and Dragons fought to a 0-0 draw, as Elyse Green made several impressive stops to keep things scoreless. Last season the Green and Gold won 2-0 with senior Giulia Mahoney scoring one goal and tallying an assist on the other goal.

Key Stats for Clarkson (6-1-1):  The Golden Knights are off to a strong start this season with 17 goals, one goal shy of their 2018 goal total. Clarkson possesses a balanced attack with four players recording at least seven points on the year and three different players scoring two goals in a single game. Danielle Martin continued her breakout senior campaign with a goal in Clarkson's win over Skidmore College on Wednesday, giving her a team-best nine points (4-1-9) on 13 shots, another team-high. Freshman Madelyn Van Aken made her presence felt in her first-ever Liberty League game, scoring the first two goals of her collegiate career. With her assist on the second goal of Wednesday's game, Giulia Mahoney became only the ninth player in program history to assist on 10 goals or more.

Key Stats for Cortland (3-3):  SUNY Cortland graduated its leading scorer from a year ago, but have hardly skipped a beat offensively. After scoring four goals last year, sophomore Ro Hernandez has five goals in just six games to start the 2019 season. Classmate Jaden Galuzzo was a scoring machine with five goals last year and this year has diversified her impact with two goals and three assists. Outside of the efforts from the "Ro and Zo show" the Red Dragons have tallied just two other goals. Junior captain Danika Svendsen has been steady her entire career in the Cortland frame, and 2019 has been no different. Although she owns just a 3-3 record, Svendsen has allowed just seven goals in six games and sports a .788 save percentage with two shutouts.
