Green Sets Mark for Career Goalie Victories in Clarkson's 2-0 Win Over Brockport

Potsdam, NY – A goal early in the first half was all that the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team would need as the Golden Knights gained a 2-0 victory over Brockport on day two of the North Country Classic at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 2-0 on the season with the win, while Brockport fell to 0-2. The Green and Gold will be back in action on Wednesday when they host SUNY Potsdam.

Clarkson got on the scoreboard early as the Knights utilized one of their seven first-half corner kick chances to put a ball past the Brockport defense. Alicia Bushey sent a ball into the box, finding the head of Giulia Mahoney. The senior redirected the ball near the arms of Brockport's Kimberly Lubanski, but the goalkeeper was unable to handle the attempt and it squeaked past the goal line to give Clarkson a 1-0 advantage just 4:06 into the game.

The Knights picked up an insurance goal late in the half. Camryn Careccia gained possession in the Clarkson defensive zone and eluded a few Brockport midfielders before sending a long pass up to Sarah Kohls. The freshman then carried up the left side deep into the Brockport zone before sending a pass through the penalty box. Her cross found the foot of junior Allison Coon, who buried her shot just inside the near post with a right foot at 43:52.

Brockport out shot Clarkson 9-4 in the second half, but Elyse Green was up to the task, making six key saves to keep the Golden Eagles scoreless.

Green finished with seven saves for her 12th career shutout and 19th career victory, the most by a Clarkson goalkeeper in program history, surpassing the three-way tie formerly held by Michelle Arnold, Jen Bashant, and Meagan Emlaw.

Brockport finished with a 12-8 edge in shots while Clarkson held the lead 7-2 in corner kicks. Green's seven saves secured the shutout, while Brockport had split time between two keepers, with Lubanski making one save in the first half and Guliana Parisi stopping two shots in the second half.
