Women's Soccer | 10/24/2019 5:30:00 AM

With three away games remaining on the schedule, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team is battling with a pair of other teams for the final Liberty League playoff spot and the Golden Knights could make some major headway this weekend when the team takes on Rensselaer.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: The Golden Knights last won against Rensselaer in 2009, having gone 0-8-1 since. Clarkson is 10-22-4 all-time against the Engineers, falling 2-1 in 2018 thanks to an 84th minute by Emily Kaplan.

Key Stats for Clarkson (9-5-1, 2-4-0 Liberty League): The Golden Knights are just a win away from reaching double digits for just the second time ever. Clarkson's success has come largely from a trio of seniors who have produced 15 goals and accounted for 37 total points. Giulia Mahoney (5-4-14), Camryn Careccia (5-2-12) and Danielle Martin (5-1-11) have also created some team history, as it is the first time in the program's 38 seasons where three players have reached five goals in a single campaign.

Key Stats for Rensselaer (5-6-2, 2-4-0 Liberty League): The Engineers' success comes more from defense rather than offense, as Rensselaer is allowing less than a goal per game. Joey Lyons has an .810 save percentage and 0.97 goals against average between the posts for the Engineers. Whitney Wisnom ranks as the team's leader in scoring with nine points, converting four goals and adding an assist, while Emily Kaplan has also produced nine points on three goals and three assists. All three of Kaplan's goals came in a win over Bard College.
