Coming off a successful lengthy road trip, the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team plays at home for the first time in 54 days when its hosts Central NY rivals Colgate and Cornell University at Cheel Arena this weekend.

The Golden Knights face off against Colgate on Friday at 7:00 p.m., and then battle Cornell on Saturday in a 4:00 p.m. contest. Following the afternoon encounter against the Big Red, the Green and Gold will hold their annual "Skate with a Knight" festivities.

Guided by second-year co-head coaches Shannon and Matt Desrosiers, Clarkson is ranked third in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com national polls. Enjoying the best season ever in the history of the seven-year-old program, the Knights stand at 17-5-3 overall, and hold down first place in ECAC Hockey with an 11-1-1 league mark. With nine games remaining in the regular season, Clarkson is one point ahead of Cornell in the conference standings, but also has a game in hand over the Big Red.

The Knights, who have played six straight on the road and 12 of their last 14 away from Potsdam, will play five consecutive games in the North Country. After this weekend’s contests, the Green and Gold will play at St. Lawrence on Tuesday, February 2 before returning to Cheel for a Friday-Saturday series against Rensselaer and Union on February 5-6. Clarkson, which shut out Princeton 3-0 in its last home game (December 5), is 10-0-1 at Cheel this season.

Road warriors since early November, the Knights went 6-4-2 over the past 12 away games with the losses coming at 7/10-ranked Cornell (2-0), #2 Minnesota (4-0, 2-0) and #1 Mercyhurst (6-3). Clarkson, led by senior captain Britney Selina (Thornhill, ONT) and senior assistant captain Carlee Eusepi (Oakville, ONT), takes a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) into this weekend. The Green and Gold started the trend with a 5-5 non-league tie at top-rated Mercyhurst on January 16, and then resumed ECAC Hockey play with a 3-2 overtime triumph at Yale and a 3-0 shutout at Brown this past weekend.

Named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, senior Dominique Thibault (L’Orignal, ONT), paces the Clarkson’s offense with 31 points. She tallied the game-winner just 17 seconds into overtime in the victory at Yale, and also recorded her team-high 16th goal of the season in the win at Brown. Four other Knights are recording double figures in the points column. Clarkson’s all-time leading scorer, Selina has tallied 26 points, including a team-high 18 assists. Selina has amassed 138 career points on 48 goals and 90 assists through 133 games. Sophomore standout Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE) has 24 points (12-12) while junior Melissa Waldie (Newmarket, ONT) has 21 points (12-9) and leads the team in power-play markers with six. Eusepi powers the offense from the blueline with 13 points (4-9).

Junior Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) backbones one of the nation’s stingiest defensive units. She has played every minute in the Green and Gold crease and holds a .937 save percentage, a 1.54 goals against average and is tied for second in the national lead in shutouts (6).

Winless in its last three games (0-2-1), Colgate owns a 7-15-4 overall record and is in 10th place in ECAC Hockey with a 3-7-4 league mark. The Raiders gained a point in a weekend series against Cornell. Last Friday, the teams skated to a 3-3 tie in Hamilton, and on Saturday Colgate was shut out by the Big Red 6-0 in Ithaca. The Raiders are 5-10-1 on the road.

Receiving votes in the national polls, Cornell is 10-7-4 overall and 9-1-4 in the conference, one point behind Clarkson in the standings. The Big Red, who play at St. Lawrence on Friday, own a four-game unbeaten streak (2-0-2) entering the weekend. Cornell is 4-2-3 on the road.
