Knights Rally From 21-Point Deficit For Victory at Oswego, 64-62

January 5, 2007

Oswego, NY - With a pair of free throws in the final minute, senior Jon Youngmann (Corinth, NY) capped off an 18-point effort in an amazing come-from-behind win for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team as the Golden Knights rallied from a 21-point second-half deficit to record a stunning 64-62 win over Oswego State Friday night.

The Golden Knights improved to 8-2 overall and close the regular season non-league schedule when they host Cazenovia on Sunday afternoon. The Lakers dropped to 5-4 on the season.

The first half was played fairly even as the two teams went back and forth for the first 13 minutes, but the Lakers went on a 17-5 run to end the half, including an 11-0 run over a span of just under five minutes, to take a 39-25 lead into the locker room. The second half was more of the same as the Lakers' lead swelled to as many as 21 points with 14 minutes remaining.

Still trailing by 18 points with just over 10 minutes left, the Golden Knights went on a 13-0 run to trim the lead to five with 5:46 remaining. The team completed the comeback on an Elson Pickering (Brooklyn, NY) lay up at 2:44 to give the Knights their first lead in nearly 25 minutes. After losing the advantage for a moment, Brandon Linton (Queens, NY) scored on a lay up with 1:34 to give Clarkson a lead it would never relinquish.

Jon Youngmann lead all scorers with 18 points, shooting 7-for-10 from the floor. Classmates Erick Vigansky (Kenosha, WI) and EJ Harrison (Troy, NY) each chipped in 12 points, with Vigansky adding seven rebounds and Harrison contributing five assists. The Knights shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the second half while the defense held Oswego to just 33.3 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.

Todd Franze led the Lakers with 15 points, followed by Dominick White with 12 and Erik Roberson with 11.
