Saratoga Springs, NY - A tightly played second half did not end up on the side of the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team on Friday night as the Golden Knights dropped a close 52-47 Liberty League decision to Skidmore College.
The Golden Knights dropped to 5-17 ovewrall and 1-10 in the conference while Skidmore jumped to 9-13 overall and 3-8 in the Liberty League. Clarkson ends its road schedule on Saturday when it visits Union College.
Trailing by only three points midway through the second half, Clarkson held Skidmore without a field goal in the final five minutes, but could not capture the lead thanks to eight free throws by the Thoroughbreds in the final 3:45.
For the fourth consecutive game Erika Fritjofson (East Barre, VT) played all 40 minutes of the game and tallied a team-high 12 points for the Golden Knights. Sarah Wesner (Sidney, NY) added 12 points and four rebounds, shooting 10-for-13 from the free throw line. Vanessa Westcott also adeded 11 points and five rebounds for Clarkson.
Shardae Gonsalves scored 14 points and Laurel Brown added 13 points for Skidmore. Krystal Coke also added 9 points and 13 rebounds for the Thoroughbreds.
