Schenectady, NY - An improved effort from the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team fell short on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Knights lost to Union College 66-45 in the final Liberty League game of the season.
Clarkson finishes the regular season with a 4-21 overall record and a 1-13 mark in conference play. Playoff-bound Union moved to 17-7 and 10-4.
The Golden Knights controlled play in the first half, enjoying a seven-point advantage with just three minutes remaining in the opening 20 minutes. However, the Dutchmen went on a 17-0 run over a 6:22 span from the end of the first half to the beginning minutes of the second half to take a double-digit lead.
Senior point guard Linda Fernandez (Kennebunkport, ME) and Erika Fritjofson (East Barre, VT) each scored 12 points to lead the Knights. Fernandez became just the fifth Clarkson player to record over 100 assists in a single-season. Sarah Wesner (Sidney, NY) also added 10 points for Clarkson.
Katelyn Cunningham scored 15 points to lead Union, while Melissa Marra added 12 points.
