October 7, 2005

Troy, NY - Six minutes, 42 seconds into the first overtime, Rensselaer's Ashley Aust scored the game-winning goal as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team fell 1-0 in extra time against the Red Hawks in Liberty League action on Friday night.

The Golden Knights dropped their fourth straight game to fall to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Rensselaer moved to 2-6-1 and 1-3 in the Liberty League.

After an even first half, the Red Hawks took over play with a 10-0 shot advantage and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks in the second period. The Knights defense played well, but a hard shot right under Lauren Arredondo's (Allendale, NJ) right side gave RPI a 1-0 win.

RPI out shot Clarkson 17-6 overall and held a 8-0 lead in corner kicks. Arredondo made eight saves over 96:42 for the Golden Knights while Jackie Gabriele stopped two shots in net for Rensselaer.
