Potsdam, NY - Scottie Rovito came off the bench to score 22 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field to lead Plattsburgh State to a 62-49 win over the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team Tuesday evening at Clarkson's Alumni Gynmasium.

Freshman Mickala Henson (Waverly, NY) scored 17 points, 15 coming in the second half, and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Golden Knights, shooting 9-for-11 from the free throw line. Clarkson fell to 0-3 on the season while Plattsburgh State improved to 3-0 overall.

The Golden Knights struggled from the floor in the first half, shooting just 4-for-24 from the field. Clarkson was able to keep the game close in the opening 20 minutes thanks to free throw shooting until the final minutes when the Cardinals went on a 9-2 run to end the half. Rovito scored nine first half points to go along with five rebounds for the Cardinals. Linda Fernandez (Kennebunkport, ME) had eight points and three rebounds to lead the Golden Knights, while freshman Sarah Wesner (Sidney, NY) contributed three points and five rebounds, including four on the offensive end.

The Golden Knights closed the gap to single-digits midway through the second half but couldn't get the lead under eight points and fell back to double-digits on free throws late in the game. Erika Frifjofson (East Barre, VT) scored nine points for the Golden Knights, with Fernandez and Wesner contributing eight points each.

The Golden Knights return to action next Tuesday when they visit arch-rival St. Lawrence University at 7:00 p.m. in Burkman Gymnasium.
