KNIGHTS SHOW IMPROVEMENT IN 1-0 LOSS TO SLU

October 4, 2003

Canton, NY - After being outscored 12-0 over the last three meetings, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team took a step forward Saturday afternoon, dropping a tough 1-0 decision to St. Lawrence University in an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) game Saturday afternoon at the Saints' Sandy MacAllaster Field.

Though Clarkson ran their winless streak against the Saints to six straight games, the Golden Knights were able to squash the Saints' high-powered offense by allowing just a single goal. Jen Giller scored midway through the first half for the Saints, but Clarkson goaltender Lauren Arredondo (Allendale, NJ) stopped the other eight shots on goal to keep the game close throughout. St. Lawrence outshot Clarkson 17-3 and enjoyed a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Golden Knights, who moved to 2-5-2 overall and 1-2 in the UCAA, return to action on Tuesday when they host Oswego State at 4 p.m. on Clarkson Field.
